Celebration of the Feast of Victoria Diez

To celebrate the life of Blessed Victoria Diez, the members of the Association got together at Devika Apartments on 12th August. The threat of the prevalent swine flu did not deter people coming from near and far to join in this moment of thanksgiving.

The evening began with prayer led by Veera Veigas, with a reading from John 21:17-19 and a litany of thanksgiving for the gift of Victoria, interspersed with beautiful hymns.

Agosh Librea then through a well illustrated power-point, presented the insirational life of Victoria. It was both insightful and provoking to live our mission fuller.

Vereene, Goretti and Anna then sang a Spanish song 'Cry of Victory' written by Ellia after each member present received a quote from Victoria.

Pot luck brought us banana cake and croquette, cookies, chips and cold drinks along with Anna's signature flan!

With hearts full of joy and thanksgiving to God, for this wonderful gift of Fr. Poveda, the entire Teresian Association family in Pune- ACIT, Primary Association, Pre ACIT, Formation Group, Youth Group, families and friends came together to celebrate the Holy Eucharist at St. Xavier's Church in Pune on the 28th of July. Fr. Andrew, Vice Principal of St. Vincent's School in his homily spoke of the vocation being a challenge and that our faith must compel us to respond to the present day needs. At the start of the Eucharist, he meaningfully outlined the life of Poveda for the entire parish congregation.

Our youth group, sang at the Mass and the recessional hymn was one dedicated to Fr. Poveda written by Agosh Librea and composed by Hazel Fernandes.

This big family then proceeded to the TA house after Mass. With many new faces and a mixture of all the groups, everyone introduced themselves and then settled themselves down for a quiz on Father Poveda and the Association. For some it was a revision of the information they already had, for others it was new insight!

The evening came to a completion with a hearty 'Mutton Biryani'. Prayers, chats, laughs, whispers and nibbles later, the evening came to a celebrative end.

A special day, we commemorated the inspiration for the mission of the Teresian Association at a small grotto of Our Lady at 16, Kahun Road.
A gathering of 27 comprising youth, ACIT and core members along with our families, in solidarity with the rest of the Association all over the world, we walked while praying the rosary to see Our Lady. This was followed by a beautiful prayer thanking her for the Association, its members and the Work and seeking her guidance and blessing in the year ahead.

This was also the Feast of Pentecost and we invoked the Spirit’s gifts of courage and wisdom to discern and accomplish God’s will. The members also prayed in a special way for youth and those affected by the recession.

The pilgrimage ended with a hymn to Our Lady in praise and thanksgiving.

A short celebration and food and drink brought this beautiful event to a close.
